The President of the Philippines Rodrigo Duterte is single minded in his approach towards the rebel groups. He has a different way of analyzing the various troubles that his country faces.

Even the long standing issues give him a clear perspective as to the solutions which are the most acceptable.

As a matter of fact, upon assuming Presidency his feelers and emissaries fanned out to the trouble spots. These people contacted the leaders of the rebels waging endless and meaningless wars with the nation.

But, these worthies had their own axes to grind and appropriate responses did not materialize. But, good old Rody is not one to give up easily.
He comes back with renewed force when refused.

This time around he invited the members of New People’s Army (NPA) to come home in peace. He exhorted them to spend Christmas with their near and dear ones.

Leave your arms and come down. NPA is the armed agency of the communist rebels.

He addressed them directly while attending an event at Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City. The Armed Forces of the Philippines celebrated their 81st anniversary celebrations.

He assured them safe passage when they came down from the hills. The unilateral ceasefire is in place for that, he assured them.

However, he did not convey a soft picture of himself or his government. Consequently, he warned all the criminal elements among them that the crusade against criminals and terrorists continues.
